Responsibility and contact
Johan P Stam and Leon Meier operate this website. You can contact either operator using the details above for questions about your personal data or to exercise your rights.
Hosting
The public website uses GitHub Pages. GitHub states that it logs and stores visitors’ IP addresses for security purposes, including when visitors are not signed in to GitHub. We use hosting to provide a reliable and secure website, based on our legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
GitHub describes its processing, retention criteria and international transfers, including processing in the United States, in its Privacy Statement. See also GitHub Pages data collection.
Cookies and analytics
The website code sets no cookies, uses no analytics or advertising trackers, and loads its images, fonts and scripts without third-party embedded content. It does not use persistent browser storage.
Optional AI chat
The chat uses AI to answer questions about Factory Franchise. Opening it does not send a question. When you press Send in the chat, your message and a limited number of earlier messages are sent to our chat service and to OpenAI to generate a reply. Please do not include personal, confidential or sensitive information. AI answers can contain mistakes and are not binding offers.
Our chat service runs on Amazon Web Services in the United States. It processes your IP address temporarily to limit abuse. We do not save conversation text, IP addresses or browser identifiers in the chat service’s persistent storage. We keep aggregate usage totals to enforce a monthly cost limit. The conversation remains in your browser’s memory until you reload or close the page or start a new chat.
OpenAI processes message content, including any personal data you choose to enter. We disable stored Responses API conversations. This does not disable OpenAI’s security retention: abuse-monitoring data may be retained for up to 30 days, or longer where legally required. Temporary prompt caches may remain for up to 24 hours. OpenAI states that API content is not used to train its models by default. See OpenAI’s API data controls and Privacy Policy.
We process chat inquiries to provide the answers you request and protect the service from abuse, based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. You can use the website without the chat or contact us directly. Processing by AWS and OpenAI can take place outside the European Economic Area. Their information about international transfers is available in AWS’s Privacy Notice and OpenAI’s Privacy Policy.
Contact links open your email application and do not send a message automatically. Email to hello@factory-franchise.eu is routed through Forward Email to both operators’ inboxes. The forwarding service and the receiving email service process the sender address, recipients and message for delivery. See Forward Email’s Privacy Policy. If you email us directly, both operators may receive the email address and information you provide.
We use this information to respond to your inquiry under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, or Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where the inquiry concerns steps you request before entering a contract. Messages are retained as long as needed to handle the inquiry and meet applicable legal retention obligations, then deleted.
Your rights
Subject to the applicable legal conditions, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal data. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. Contact either operator using the details above.
You may also complain to a data protection supervisory authority, including the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
